Informational session for upcoming Habitat build in Peru Saturday

PERU – Applicants are being sought for an opportunity to purchase a newly constructed home with a low-interest affordable mortgage loan. Habitat for Humanity of LaSalle, Bureau and Putnam Counties are looking for those in need of adequate housing who are willing to work with them to add a home to the city of Peru. There will be an informational session about the application process held at the Miller Community Center at the Habitat for Humanity ReStore Saturday at 2 PM. Individuals, as well as families, may apply, and applicants must be either US citizens or permanent-resident aliens with continuous employment over the next five years.
“This is all about owning a piece of the pie and owning your own house,” said Todd Volker, executive director of Habitat for Humanity. “In so many ways, having your own home is better than simply renting space to live in. It’s good for people. We have made it possible for income-eligible persons and families to own their own home, with their own work and the support of volunteers and contributors.”
