LASALLE – The Oglesby Elks Lodge donation to Lighted Way comes serendipitously for the upcoming Children’s Development Center.
The $70,000 gift will help pay for a special outdoor playground at Lighted Way’s new home, opening in August, at 1445 Chartres Street in La Salle.
Lighted Way Executive Director Jessica Kreiser says it’s a blessing beyond belief.
The gift will specifically go towards a poured-in-place rubber surfacing for the new 3500 square ft playground. The ADA-compliant rubber flooring will allow all Lighted Way children to safely access the playground with any walkers, canes, or wheelchairs. The contribution was made from the estate of Anita Copeland of Peru who wished to allocate the funds to assist special needs, children.
