OTTAWA – The Ottawa Fire Chief and Building officials have inspected a Lotz Logistics facility on the south side of the city that is storing potassium permanganate. Officials expressed concern after the Carus Chemical Company fire in LaSalle released some of that same chemical in and around the community. In a press release, Ottawa Mayor Dan Aussem and the City Council noted that the area at the Southtowne Mall now has a complete sprinkler system, new fire alarm system, security cameras, and spill containment. Additionally, all OSHA requirements are being met. The staff is CVI certified per homeland security requirements, HazMat certified, and OSHA trained.
