One dead after apartment fire in Ottawa

 
OTTAWA – An early morning fire took the life of an individual in Ottawa. The Ottawa Fire Department says they were called to the 100 block of West Campbell Street for a report of visible smoke and flames around 2:15 AM. One of the five apartments in the building had heavy fire and a search was conducted, where an unresponsive victim was discovered in the living room. The fire was brought under control in around 30 minutes but the victim succumbed to their injuries sustained in the fire at an area hospital. The fire remains under investigation by The Office of the Illinois State Fire Marshal. The identity of the victim is being withheld pending family notification.
