Florida man falls asleep during traffic stop

PUNTA GORDA, FL — A Florida man who was wanted on multiple charges of armed burglary, theft of a firearm, and grand theft was seen driving in Punta Gorda.  Authorities attempted to pull him over for a felony traffic stop and he tried to evade them by pulling into a parking lot and then making evasive maneuvers.  He was held at gunpoint by the deputy while they waited for backup because he refused to show his hands and step out of the vehicle.  Instead, he sat in the vehicle drinking beer and a bottle of Patron Silver.  While watiing on backup, the man kept falling asleep at the wheel.
Once backup arrived he tried to drive away and made it about 30 feet until he ran over a stop stick.  He was eventually apprehended and is being charged with operating a motor vehicle with a suspended/revoked driver’s license (3rd or more), failure to register motor vehicle, fleeing to elude, possession of a firearm by convicted felon x4, possession ammunition by convicted felon x4, and DUI influence of alcohol or drugs.
