Officers released from duty due to Pokémon Go

These officers had an abundance of free time for play: The L.A.P.D. has recently released 2017 footage capturing two policemen neglecting a nearby robbery to engage in a game of Pokémon Go. Their patrol car was parked just across the street from the scene of the crime, with a fellow officer requesting backup after noticing the situation. However, they seemingly ignored the plea and instead embarked on a quest to capture a Snorlax in the vicinity. Astonishingly, this isn’t a joke; the squad car’s camera recorded their discussion about the Snorlax. The footage also documented them speeding through a residential neighborhood and driving against traffic on a one-way street.

One of these officers had served on the force for seven years, while the other was a 17-year veteran. Their employment was terminated in 2018, though they pursued an appeal. Their initial attempt to claim they couldn’t hear the radio due to loud music nearby was debunked after the video evidence from their car exposed the falsehood. The footage was released following a records request filed by an undisclosed individual.
