Set your clock! Experts weigh in on Daylight Saving

By: nicolas Valentin

UNDATED – Daylight Saving time is this weekend, and as American prepare to spring forward, health experts are calling on Congress to make the change permanent. According to The American Academy of Sleep Medicine, public health would benefit from a permanent switch to standard time as it would more closely align with the body’s internal clock. Dr. Frank Han, a cardiologist with OSF HealthCare says poor sleeping habits can impact you negatively later in life.

The AASM recommends getting at least seven hours of sleep before and after Daylight Saving Time begins while shifting your bedtime 15-20 minutes earlier each night before the change.
