PERU – Police are asking for the public’s assistance after a vehicle connected to a missing man was found in Peru. According to the Bloomington Police Department and the Peru Police Department, 25-year-old Jelani J. Day has been missing for several days in unexplained suspicious circumstances. Police say on Thursday just after 4 p.m., officers discovered a vehicle in the wooded area south of the Illinois Valley YMCA that was determined to be a vehicle of interest in the case. Bloomington and Peru detectives are asking the assistance from Illinois Valley residents that may have seen the vehicle or Jelani or any else operating the vehicle in the area this past week. Jelani is described as a male black, 6 feet tall, 180 pounds with short black hair, brown eyes, and some facial hair. Anyone with information can contact the Peru Police Department’s Detectives Unit.
