STREATOR — A major employer in Streator is laying off employees in an announcement made at a meeting yesterday. Vactor Manufacturing will be laying off forty five members of their staff beginning May 12th. Those whose positions are being cut will have meetings next week with the Illinois Department of Employment Security to arrange benefits. Vactor will also continue to provide health coverage to those affected through June 15th. Vactor manufactures sewer cleaning trucks, sewer vacuums, and water jetting products.
