    PERU – The long awaited road construction that will add another connection from Route 251 to Plank Road was completed Thursday. The Unytite Drive road extension was opened with a ribbon cutting. The $5 million dollar project was originally set to be completed this spring.

STREATOR – A vehicle that was located wrecked and abandoned in rural LaSalle County was originally reported stolen. Streator Police say the 2012 Chevrolet SUV was found in the 1500 block of East 20th Road. The vehicle was reported stolen early in the morning on Wednesday from the 600 block

ANCONA – A fiery gas leak was extinguished overnight near Ancona. Around 1:30 AM Long Point, Reading and Cornell Fire was called out to 2900 N300 East Road for a Nicor gas well on fire. With the assistance of Nicor the gas was shut off and the fire extinguished. No injuries were reported.

STREATOR – The Streator Area United Way announced that they are over the halfway point for pledges for fundraising of their 2020 goal of nearly $270,000. It was announced on Tuesday by Josh Biros, the Campaign Chairperson, that $136,606 have been pledged. Streator Unlimited, First Federal
