IVCC Hispanic Heritage Month Events

Illinois Valley Community College is hosting several events to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month, Sept. 15 through Oct. 15.
Dr. Ricardo Espinoza, retired Supt. of La Moille School District, will present “Growing up Hispanic in the Illinois Valley and Achieving Success” at noon Monday, Sept. 17 in CTC124.
Immigration attorney Sara Dady will discuss immigration issues in America today at noon Wednesday, Oct. 3 in Rooms CTC124-125.
“De Colores,” a Mexican Folkloric dance group, will perform at noon Thursday, Oct. 8 in the Dr. Mary Margaret Weeg Cultural Centre.
The final event will be a viewing of the film “Dolores” at noon Monday, Oct. 15 in Room CTC125. The film documents the life of Dolores Huerta who bucked 1950s gender conventions by starting the country’s first farm workers’ union with fellow organizer Cesar Chavez
