Sen. Sue Rezin votes “present” on marijuana bill

By: freeimage4life

SPRINGFIELD – State Sen. Sue Rezin voted present on a bill that would legalize recreational marijuana. The Illinois Senate passed House Bill 1483, or The Cannabis Regulation and Tax Act passed by a 38-17 vote. Rezin’s “present” motion, means the vote does not count towards or against the passage of the bill. It’s up to the House to see if or when the bill becomes a law. If so, January 1, 2020, adults 21 and older could possess cannabis and purchase cannabis products in licensed stores. The bill would also usher in sweeping criminal justice reform with Gov. J.B Pritzkers clemency process for convictions for up to 30 grams. Expunges for such offenses would be automatic.
