SPRINGFIELD – The Illinois Department of Public Health announced that additional steps will be taken in Region 7 of Illinois to help combat a resurgence of COVID-19. Several new mitigations will be implemented beginning August 26th in Region 7, which includes Will and Kankakee counties, including no indoor bar service, no gatherings of more than 25 people, and more. Additional mitigation measures are implemented when a region has an average positivity rate greater than or equal to 8% for 3 consecutive days. The IDPH also reported 1,680 new confirmed cases on Tuesday, along with 29 additional deaths.
