State unemployment rate at its lowest since the start of pandemic


 
SPRINGFIELD – The unemployment rate in Illinois fell to 4.5%, the lowest the rate has been since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic in March of 2020, according to the Illinois Department of Employment Security. In North Central Illinois, Bureau County holds the lowest unemployment rate at 4.1%, down over a half percent compared to last month. LaSalle County holds the highest unemployment rate in the region at 4.7% down from 5.4% last month. In June, the industry sectors with the largest over-the-month gains in employment included: Leisure and Hospitality, Business Services, Construction, and Educational and Health Services.
